Sadalaga cholera-hit

The district administration has declared the villages around Sadalaga in Chikodi taluk as a cholera-hit zone.

The measure comes following the death of four people after they consumed contaminated water. More than 170 people who took ill due to the consumption of tainted water have now been admitted to various hospitals in the taluk.

The DC has asked residents to drink only boiled water . The sale of cut fruits in the open have been banned. The gram panchayat secretaries have been directed to take measures to ensure sanitation and hygiene in the villages.

The number of cholera causalities rose to four with the death of Ashok Lakshman Lokare, 56, and Madhukar Gurunath Sattigeri, 55, both residents of Sadalaga.
