Ink pact, else we'll halt garbage disposal: Mandur residents

Last Updated 01 July 2014, 10:50 IST

Residents of Mandur have warned the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) of stern action if they failed to sign a pact with them by Monday.

Although the Karnataka government and the BBMP had convinced the residents of Mandur that dumping of waste would be stopped from January 31, they wanted a written agreement to that effect.

A resident of Mandur informed Deccan Herald that the government and the Palike failed to sign a pact even on Wednesday.

“ We will wait till Monday. If the agreement is not signed, we will block all vehicles carrying garbage from entering our village. We will not allow them to take us for granted,” he said.
The Palike should not only stop dumping waste but also clear mounds of garbage on the landfill.

Also, it should release funds for the overall development of the village that has borne the brunt for Bangalore’s growth. Regular medical checkup camps should be held in the village, said residents of Mandur.
