<p>The State government has constituted 25 Rapid Response Teams to check the spread of avian bird flu, which has created a flutter in the City.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Aravind Jannu, Principal Secretary to Animal Husbandry Department, said the virus has been contained within the farm belonging to the Central Poultry Development Organisation and Training Institute off Hesaraghatta where the flu broke out. <br /><br />He said the entire area has been quarantined while the turkeys have been culled before the flu could spread to other areas.<br /><br />Jannu said, “We have constituted 25 rapid teams consisting of five members each who would cover at least 68 villages in and around the farm. We have also set up surveillance teams which will go to all places to sensitise people about the avian flu outbreak.”<br /><br />The hotels in the City are also on the alert. On anonymity, a hotelier said that their business may get affected due to the outbreak as the customers will shy away from the hotels serving chicken and other non-vegetarian food items. <br /><br />He said on the weekend days there would be a business of about Rs one lakh but due to the reports, the turnover on Saturday came down to merely Rs 35,000.<br /></p>
