ANF Commandant Alok Kumar has said that the people of Kodagu can make use of the guns which they possess for self protection against the Maoists.

As a result, the Maoists would have entered Kodagu district. The ANF has intensified combing operations in Sullia-Puttur, Bisile Ghat.

“The Maoists are trying to camp in Kodagu. If they continue to trouble the villagers, then people can make use of the guns and other weapons for self-protection,” he said and added that the combing operations will be intensified further. The villagers and the forest department’s help will be sought in nabbing the Maoists.

In the backdrop of combing operations, the extremists are struggling for survival inside the forest. Hence, they are trying to create fear in the minds of the people by shifting their base to new places. No inconvenience will be met at the public.
