Eight persons were killed in two separate accidents near Shiggaon and Mundagod on Wednesday.
Six persons were killed and another 30 sustained injuries as a private bus rammed a parked lorry at Bankapura Cross near Shiggaon, Haveri district.
Karigowda, 61, Srinivas, 60, Sarojamma, 65, all residents of Tumkur, were killed on the spot while Rathnavva, 62, K Nanjundaiah, 51 and Narasimhamurthy, 58, died at the district hospital in Davangere, police said. They were returning to their hometown after a tour of Shirdi, Kudalasangama, Bijapur, Pandharapur and Saundatti.
Two motorcyclists were killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a bike and a KSRTC bus on Hubli-Sirsi Road.
Srinivas Bhat, 58, and Hosalli Narasimha Hegde, 48, were on their way to Hubli to distribute wedding invitations when the accident occurred.
