Cong retains its strong bastion

Counting of votes began at the Government Boys’ PU College in the presence of returning officer N Prabhakar and election observer Chandrakar Bharti and Syeed Oscar Samun.

As many as 118 tables were arranged for the counting of votes of the eight assembly segments of the constituency. Out of the 13,37,579 voters 9,27,261 had exercised their franchise. Nearly 1461 postal ballots were cast and 186 votes were rejected. Later the votes from the electronic voting machines were counted.

19 lose deposit

While K H Muniyappa got 3,44,771 votes, D S Veeriaiah of BJP secured 3,21,765 votes.  Muniyappa won by a margin of 23,006 votes. J Chandranna of  JD(S) secured 1,99,896 votes. There were 22 candidates in fray and 19 candidates have lost their deposits.

SP K P Puttaswamy had arranged police security. Returning officer N Prabhakar handed over the certificate for the winner K H Muniyappa in the presence of observer Chandrakar Bharti and Syeed Asgar Smun. District Congress Committee president N S Bisse Gowda, legislator Amaresh and others were present.

Later addressing the gathering K H Muniyappa thanked every one who worked for his victory. He promised to continue the development works that were undertaken in his previous term. He promised to co-operate in providing drinking water and solution to provide permanent water facility. He also gave assurance to provide employment in the district by bringing industries.

Celebrations

Congress workers taking outMuniyappa in a procession, in the City and celebrated the victory. The celebrators visited Kolaramma temple and offered special pooja.

Bisse Gowda, M L Anil Kumar, legislator Amaresh, H V Kumar, Jayadev, Ramprasad,  Gopal Gowda, Ashoka Krishnappa, Jayasimha, Shafiulla and others were present.

In Malur

Congress workers in Malur celebrated the victory of the candidate Muniyappa by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. ZP member M Narayanaswamy, Block Congress President Mylandahalli Muniraju, KPCC president S N Raghunath, R C Appaji Gowda, leaders C P Venkatesh,  Shivarada Rajanna, Dinesh, S V Lokesh, Dommaluru Subramani, Lakshminarayana and others were present.
