UP parties solicit 'home support' from 'bhaiyas'

Last Updated 06 October 2009, 16:58 IST

The SP and BSP feel that they can win the support of the migrant people and thus be in a position to call the shots in the event of a hung assembly. The ruling BSP has already declared its intention to focus on the  “bhaiyyas” by assuring them to look after their problems back home as well as offering them full protection if the party comes to power in the state (Maharashtra).

Senior UP ministers have been despatched to Maharashtra to hold parleys with different groups and associations of people from UP and Bihar and convince them to support the BSP nominees.

The BSP would leave no stone unturned to hammer the issue of recent attacks by MNS activists on the north Indians, a senior BSP minister told Deccan Herald here.

Uttar Bharatiya Pravasi Sangh convener Gyanendra Bhatt said three UP ministers had approached them seeking their support.
