Gangta century props up Himachal 'A'

NR Gangta struck an unbeaten ton as Himachal Pradesh ‘A’ reached a healthy 283 for nine agaimst Karnataka at close on the opening day of the the CK Nayudu Elite ‘A’ match at the Chinnaswamy stadium here on Friday. Electing to bowl after winning the toss, the hosts found the going tough against Gangta (117 batting, 191b, 17x4) who stood rock solid even as wickets fell at the other end.

The youngster was involved in two useful partnerships for the third and fouth wickets with JP Singh and AK Kaushik respectively. While Gangta added 51 runs alongwith Singh, he raised a further 130 runs in the company of Kaushik to put visitors’ innings in firm shape. 

Sharath starred with the ball for Karnataka, picking up three for 59. The right-arm medium pacer was complemented well by offie K Gowtham, who took two for 84. Opening bowler Aditya B Sagar, PG Mordi and and Shreyas Gopal too chipped in with a wicket each.
