State seeks SC bench in Bangalore

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Kumar said that the State government has once again urged the Union government to set up a permanent bench of the Supreme Court in Bangalore and help the litigants of south India.

Speaking with mediapersons here on Saturday, the minister said the government has submitted a memorandum to the Centre and also to the Chief Justice of India, urging to initiate measures to establish the apex court bench in Bangalore.

The State will be providing the required infrastructure to set up the bench here. The then Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily had advocated that the bench should come up in Bangalore. Once again, a fresh memorandum wil be submitted to the Chief Justice of India (CJI), urging for the same.
