As many as 25 students from the Kashmir Valley visited the City on Saturday for a four-day tour, as part of the Indian Army’s Sadbhavana scheme.

They visited the Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area Headquarters and interacted with Major General K S Venugopal.

Speaking to students, Venugopal urged them to join the Armed forces. The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (BIHAR) on behalf of 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles has organised an educational tour for the students.

The students from remote villages in Kashmir such as Wangat, Surphrao, Gund, Chattergul, Kangan and Marmar of Ganderbal District, under Tehsil Kangan will visit historical places in Bangalore and Mysore. A press release issued by the Indian Army stated that the tour’s aim was to expose these young impressionable minds to development and liberty.

“This experience would channel their thoughts too,” it stated. The team of students have so far visited the Bannerghatta National Park, Cubbon Park, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore Museum, Botanical Garden, Brindavan Gardens and Tipu Sultan Palace.
