Mudslide: MCC suspends building license

Mangalore City Corporation has temporarily suspended the license of the upcoming building 'Essel Heights' at Derebail and issued notice to Somayaji Estates Pvt Ltd.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar said that  further action will be taken depending on the response given by Somayaji Estates Pvt Ltd.

It may be recalled that a labourer, Vardut Mondal from West Bengal, died in a mudslide that occurred near the construction site of Essel Heights near Derebail on Tuesday. Six were injured in the mudslide and admitted to AJ Hospital. According to police sources, one is admitted in ICU. Others are recovering. A case has been registered against the construction company and the engineer.
