BU affiliated colleges may apply for new courses

Bangalore University has invited applications from its affiliated Arts and Science colleges interested in introducing criminology and correctional administration courses.

The applications are open for beginning four-year BS programme and BA in Criminology and Correctional Administration. The colleges that have been accredited by NAAC with either ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade are eligible to apply.

The university prescribes that such colleges should have at least two teachers in the rank of assistant professors or readers with PhD in Arts or Science. Library and lab facilities are mandatory. Applications for these courses are available at academic section –III in Jnanabharathi, Bangalore University.

The university has also invited applications from its affiliated colleges for renewal of affiliations, permissions to start additional courses, increasing intake and for starting new colleges for the academic year 2013-14.

The renewal of affiliation will not be applicable for BEd, BP Ed and MEd colleges. Increase in intake has been barred for MSc, Master of International Business, Master of Finance and Accounting, MSW, MVA, MPEd, integrated PG courses, PG diploma in Actuarial Studies, Insurance Marketing, Financial Planning and other newly instituted courses.

The university prescribes that for starting additional PG courses, colleges should have a permanent affiliation status or a continuous affiliation for at least five years.

Also, such colleges must have been assigned ‘B’ grade and above by the NAAC. The institutions with C++ grading by NAAC and having continuous affiliation for five years can apply for permanent membership.

The colleges have been asked to approach the office of the coordinator, Prasaranga Sales Unit on Palace Road in the City. Applications are being issued from November 22 and the last date for submitting applications is December 20. Details can be had from assistant registrar at the Academic Section III on Jnanabharathi campus.
