Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Chairperson Mukhyamantri Chandru will lead a delegation to New Delhi next month to prevail upon the Centre to implement national policies on education, employment and water sharing between states.

Chandru told reporters on Monday that the delegation comprising writers, social workers and academicians will visit the national capital for five days from December 9.

Writers Go Ru Channabasappa, Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pundalika Halambi, Karnataka Pollution Control Board chairman Vaman Acharya, academician K E Radhakrishna and others will be part of the delegation.

He said the team would submit a detailed memorandum to the union ministers concerned on the need for a national policy on education to ensure every child gets to study with the mother tongue as the medium of instruction. A national policy on employment will help in giving priority to locals in recruitments, both in the government and the private sector.

Chandru said inter-state water sharing disputes need to be resolved based on ground realities and local needs. He said the Union Cabinet should immediately clear the Constitution amendment bill providing special status to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
