The body of Indian-origin nurse Jacintha Saldanha was handed over to her husband Benedict Barboza on Friday.

Saldanha’s youngest brother Naveen told Deccan Herald that the body is likely to arrive at Shirva, Barboza’s home town, near Udupi on Sunday. Though Naveen said the time and date of the funeral will be announced on Saturday, the funeral is likely to be held on Monday at Our Lady of Health church in Shirva, sources said.

Naveen, however, junked media reports that the body was being flown to Mumbai in a Jet Airways flight, where it will reach at 12:30 am on Saturday. “The body was handed over to the family on Friday. The members are likely to arrive at the Mangalore airport via Mumbai on Sunday,” he said.

Saldanha reportedly wrote three notes revealing the anguish that led to her suicide after she was duped by two Australian radio DJs into believing that they were royals, the Daily Mirror reported. In one of the notes, the distraught mother of two outlined how she struggled to come to terms with the prank call by Australian DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian to the hospital where 30-year-old Princess Kate was being treated for severe morning sickness.

In another note, she criticised senior colleagues at the King Edward VII hospital over the treatment meted out to her. It is believed that the nurse’s suicide note has left her grieving family furious, with Barboza believed to be in favour of an inquiry.

A source close to Saldanha's family was quoted by the paper as saying: “One of the letters, which is the longest, deals with the hospital and is critical in its tone. Needless to say, Ben wants a full inquiry into what happened, and he wants to make sure that the truth comes out. In the letter, Jacintha calls into question some of the treatment she received at the hospital.”
