A man barged into his wife’s workplace at Manipal Centre on Dickenson Road and stabbed her with a knife Monday afternoon.

Forty-two-year-old Rose Mary, who works as a security guard at the Infosys Centre on the fourth floor of Manipal Centre, suffered stab injuries on her right shoulder and thighs.

Police said that her condition is stable. Mary works for Doberman Security Agency and a firm had posted her at Infosys Centre.

Mary’s husband Logan alias Babu (47), works as a cab driver in a private company in the City.

The couple have two daughters aged 15 and 18. Suspecting her fidelity, an alcoholic Logan used to often torture her.

Unbearable

Fed up, Mary and her daughters started living separately in Ashoknagar for the past one year, while Logan stayed in a rented room in Viveknagar, police said.

Though they were living separately, Logan continued to harass Mary.

He used to often turn up at her workplace and force her to pay him. On Monday afternoon, a drunk Logan came to Manipal Centre and started pestering her for money.

K Prabhu, a senior colleague of Mary who was also on duty, told Deccan Herald that when Logan turned up at the office, Mary asked him not to allow her husband inside the office.

“As I was trying to send him away, he barged into the room. When Mary went to him, an argument ensued. Logan quickly pulled out a knife and stabbed her twice,” Prabhu said.

As a profusely bleeding Mary collapsed, Logan fled the scene. She was rushed to Bowring Hospital, where she is recovering.

Ulsoor police have registered a case against Logan and are on the lookout for him.
