The Christmas carnival, organised by the Indian Church of Christ at Marianiketan School, offered a unique experience to Bangaloreans.

Pony rides, ‘Jumping Jack’, quiz, dance shows, music competitions, talent hunt, coupled with a wide range of food items, were there for the visitors to experience.
The stage was buzzing with activities and the children participated in all the events.

“We have more than 1,200 members and all of us coordinate in organising these kind of activities for the community. We started preparing for this event around four months back and everybody helped in every way they could. After the venue was fixed, we started collecting funds,” informs Shaijus, one of the organisers.

“It is a fund-raising event for the church and this is the seventh year of the carnival. We started the day with the worship service. A host of cultural events have been organised and many children have enrolled in it. The cultural events will go on throughout the day and along with it, we have other activities like the ‘Jumping Jack’ for kids, and pony rides. Many educational institutions have also put up their stalls so that those interested can contact them,” he explains.

Robert, who had come to the carnival with his family, says that spreading joy is the best way to usher in the festive season.

“It is good to see so many people having fun in their own way. I am enjoying the food here as there is plenty to choose from. We came here in the morning and will spend the whole day here,” he says.

Jerry, one of the organisers, says that it is an annual event and each year, the crowd only gets better with more activities added to the list.

“A lot of people come with their family and friends. The best part is that you can spot people from all age groups here. Along with talent hunts and joy rides, we also encourage sports. Cricket and football matches are being held simultaneously,” he says.

It was a good day for youngsters as well as they were seen catching up with their friends. “We are busy throughout the week with our schools and colleges. This is a good opportunity for us to meet friends and family members,” says Claudia, a student who was at the carnival.
