Upa Lokayukta S B Majage on Friday sent a ‘reminder’ to the Karnataka government to act on his recommendations on transfering Deputy Inspector-General of Police Arun Chakravarthi from the Lokayukta.

Chakravarthi, who is DIGP (Lokayukta), is slated for promotion as Inspector General of Police (IGP) and, he is alleged to have been lobbying to continue in the Lokayukta even after his elevation, Lokayukta sources said.

There is said to have been a severe opposition within the Lokayukta to create a new post for Chakravarthi in the rank of IGP. The post of Additional Director General of Police, held by HNS Rao, is the top-most police post in the Lokayukta. Some officials in the Lokayukta claim that eight MLAs have approached Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar asking him to  elevate Chakravarthi as the head of Lokayukta police wing.
