In the wake of a pervading water crisis, My sore ZP has come up with an action plan to tackle the issue. All grama panchayats and engineers associated with the same have been directed to identify alternate water supply measures, in case water gets sparse.

Civic awareness for judicious use of water by the public will also help the district administration in the effective management of the crisis.

Raju R K, executive engineer in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department said that they have listed villages where there is a possibility of drinking water shortage in the coming months.
“We have identified villages where ground water levels might deplete in the coming months.
“Instructions have been sent to the grama panchayats concerned  to identify water tankers available in the region and keep them ready for the worst case scenario.” he said.

Private borewells

Private borewells where there is availability of water has been identified and directions made to ready the borewells, he said. Guru Dutt, executive engineer said that funds released to tackle the crisis will be used to ensure drinking water supply in all taluks of the district.

He said that there were some villages were there will be problems for water, but steps will be taken to ensure drinking water supply.
Judicious use

Raju said that judicious use of water in times of the pervading crisis will ensure that the available resources last longer.

We have suggested all grama panchayats in the district to create an awareness about the existing problem and ensure that they handle the situations without panicking, he said. Sources said that villages such as Jayapura Hobli in Mysore Taluk, Lanke in H D Kote taluk and few other villages in the ‘dry belt’ were facing problems already. However, district administration has arranged for tankers to supply water for such villages.

ZP CEO Dr M N Ajay Nagabushan took stock of the situation in a meeting held earlier in the day.
