Deputy Chief Minister and State BJP president K S Eshwarappa said on Saturday that he would recommend to the BJP’s parliamentary board to take suitable action against Shimoga MP B Y Raghavendra, as the party’s State unit did not have powers in this regard.

He told reporters that the district BJP unit had submitted a letter to the State unit seeking action against Raghavendra for his anti-party activities.

“I have seen the letter. I will forward it to the central leaders for action. The parliamentary board had served notices to Tumkur MP Basavaraj and Bellary MP Shantha in the past, seeking explanations on their anti-party activities. I am confident that the central leadership will take suitable action soon in Raghavendra’s case also.”

On the resignation controversy involving 13 MLAs, he said it was left to the Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah to take a decision on either accepting or rejecting the resignations as he had discretionary powers.

He said the party would announce the candidates for all 224 Assembly constituencies in the last week of February. As soon as the Assembly session is over, the party will launch booth-level workers’ conventions, house visits and other programmes to strengthen the party, based on its achievements in the last four-and-half years and failures of the UPA government at the Centre, he said.
