The association has about 5.25 lakh members.

Association President L Byrappa said that he has written to the Chief Secretary to take the association representatives into confidence before taking a final decision. The employees in the flood-affected districts are already working till late in the evenings. “But what we have failed to understand as to why the employees of other districts should work overtime? If employees work from 9 am to 6.30 pm, how it is going to help NK districts? The CS has agreed to talk to us before taking a decision in this regard”, he said.

Byrappa said the employees have been co-operating with the Government. They have sacrificed one day’s salary, which amounts to Rs 28 crore, to help the needy in the flood-affected districts.

“We are ready to do more. The Government can delay the release of our DA arrears. But let the Government talk to us first”, he said.
