Ha Ma Na award to linguist

Linguist K Kempe Gowda has been selected for Dr Ha Ma Nayak award to be presented by the Karnataka Sangha, Mandya.

At a press meet here on Tuesday, president of the sangha Jayaprakash Gowda said, the award will be presented in a programme organised at Kaveri Auditorium, Karnataka State Open University on February 5 at 10.30 am.

Briefing about the award, he said, it constitutes a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a memento and a Goddess Saraswathi idol. ‘Moola Kannada Bhashe,’ a book authored by Kempe Gowda will also be released on the occasion.  Ex- vice chancellor M M Kalburgi will inaugurate the programme, University of Mysore V-C K S Rangappa will preside, Folklore University V-C Ambalike Hiriyanna and KSOU registrar B S Vishwanath will participate. Seminars on Kannada language and literature will be held, he added.

He said, the award will be presented by Sanskrit University V-C Mallepuram G Venkatesh at 3.15 pm and Karnaraka University V-C H B Valikar will preside. Hampi University V-C Hi Chi Bora Lingaiah will release the book ‘Kannadada karanika: Ha Ma Na,’ authored by Dr Somashekara Gowda and Dr Padma Shekar. Food and civil supplies minister D N JeevaRaj will participate, he added.
