Karnataka High Court today stayed proceedings against BJP MLA H S Shankarlingegowda in a disproportionate asset case filed against him before the Lokayukta court.
Hearing a criminal petition by Shankarlingegowda, representing Chamaraja constituency, seeking quashing of the proceedings against him, Justice K N Keshavanarayana stayed the proceedings in the case.
On November 16, last year, the Lokayukta court had taken cognisance of the complaint filed against Shankarlingegowda by Mysore-based social activist Kumar H pertaining to alleged "misuse of power" and amassing of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
He had sought probe under 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act and under sections 409,420,120,463,340 and 466 of the Indian Penal Code.
