Police said the suspects had learnt that Harshika’s father Venugopal had got Rs 2 lakh from a land deal.

The duo, with an intention of extorting the money, kidnapped his daughter on January 17 when she was playing near her house.

The two then tied and gagged her and disposed of her body at Veeranagudda hill near Nice Road junction.

Missing complaint

Venugopal had lodged a complaint with Byatrayanapura police station about his missing daughter.

On January 26, workers of a private company found the decomposed body of a young girl at Veeranagudda Hill and informed the police.

Though confusion prevailed over identification initially, Byatarayanapura police handed over the body to Venugopal for final rites, following positive identification.
