Case filed against MLA with Lokayukta

A fresh case was filed against Vijaynagar MLA M Krishnappa (Cong) in the Special Lokayukta Court stating that the MLA has accumulated wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Kamble Muralidhar, advocate from Bidar and legal advisor to Dalit Panthers, submitted that Krishnappa had made false declarations before the Election Commission and the Lokayukta by suppressing information about assets worth crores of rupees.

The matter has been adjourned to February 19 for further hearing. Incidentally, this is the second case to be filed against Krishnappa in the Lokayukta Court. While the first  case matter was referred for investigation, the police recently filed a report absolving him of all charges.

Kamble, in his complaint, alleged that Krishnappa in his declaration to the Election Commissioner and Lokayukta over many years consistently suppressed details of properties which were purchased by him in Agrahara Dasarahalli. He further alleged that companies have been floated where the owner is Krishnappa’s cook. Krishnappa is also accused of acquiring assets in the name of his family members, friends, associates, employees and personal attendants.

“After acquiring these assets benami, the accused have obtained various loans from banks and financial institutions to the tune of several hundred crores of rupees,” the complaint stated. Krishnappa is also accused of forming illegal layouts in and around Bangalore. The complaint names Krishnappa’s wife Priyadarshini, his sons Pradeep and Priyakrishna and his cook K R Ramesh.
