Rains usher in another round of cold

Last Updated 16 February 2013, 20:25 IST

People preferred to remain indoors as clouds continued to hover over the City on Saturday, resulting in more rain and cold.

With about 18 mm of rain recorded since Friday evening, accompanied by cold winds from the hilly areas of the neighbouring states which witnessed snowfall, the chill staged a comeback in the national capital.

As a result of the western disturbances, according to the Met department, the rains are likely to continue on Sunday as well.

“There are predictions of rain and thunder on Sunday,” said a Met official, adding that the sky will clear only on Monday.

Meanwhile, waterlogging was reported from several parts of the city like Akshardham, ITO, Connaught Place, Paschim Vihar, Munirka and Mayur Vihar. However, there were no traffic snarls during the peak hours. The traffic was thin since many government offices were closed.

“Some traffic snarls were there but nothing major was seen. Traffic is flowing smooth,” said a traffic police officer.
