Who can forget the timid and dainty grace that lacing-up added to the ladies of all the “Little Women” movies! Or the sophisticated and elaborate charm that Kate Winslet bore in Titanic, wearing an all-lace light green gown as she locked eyes with Jack, at the deck, for the first time! Or the elegant royal beauty that Kate Middleton looked in her exquisite lace-sleeved wedding gown!

If there is one most feminine piece of intricately woven cloth, it is lace. Ever since the 16th century, lace has been one of the choicest materials adored and adorned by women across the world. The Victorian wardrobe was ever such a lacy one! Though it may have gone in and out of trend over the centuries, it has never lost its appeal in the fashion world for the sheer feminity and minute detailing that it offers.

Ofcourse, lace has never truly gone out of trend. It has always found its place in home décor, if not in apparels. Tablecloths and curtains made of lace have been a symbol of luxury and high life since ages and continue to remain so. Although, lace has been best loved, by women, in clothing.

Lace is often associated with western outfits, but it is nevertheless used in Indian ethnic wear as well. Lace easily finds its place as saree blouse borders or sleeves, and fancy work on salwars tops and sarees. In fact, several recent red carpet events saw the B-town damsels in all-lace sarees!

Being such a versatile cloth, lace is now back in trend in more than one way. Not only is it a hot pick for clothing, but it has been adapted to purses, footwear, headbands, watches, and even necklaces!

Here are 10 fashionable ways to lace-up yourself this season:

1. Lace your hair

Get rid of bad hair days by wearing a lace fabric headband. It will instantly glam-up your look.

2. Lacy casuals

For casual wear, team a lace tank top with faded blue jeans, and carry a bright colour bag to pop it up.

3. Lacy hot evening

For an evening party up the style quotient by wearing a sheer lace dress in colours like black or red. Team it up with stilettos and apply smokey-eye make-up.

4. Silk goes lace

Give your old silk saree a twist by pairing it up with a lace-sleeved blouse in contrast colour.

5. Lace on your neck

It’s not necessary that one has to stick to the fabric, one can also implement this trend through lace printed necklaces and pendants.

6. Clutch a lace

A raging trend can be functional too. Carry a lace clutch in bright and popping colours.

7. Royally lace

Bring out that old silk tunic out of your wardrobe and team it up with a lace dupatta for an elegant ensemble.

8. Lace in‘corporated’

Who says formal wear has to be monotonous! Wear a lace yoke shirt/top with a formal skirt to your office, and turn all corporate heads!

9. Heels of lace

To finish a gorgeous look, wear a pair of lace stilettos or lace peep-toes. Wear it with party wear or even semi-formal wear.

10. Watch the lace

Get yourself a gorgeous lace-strap watch, and wear it casually, or for parties, as you please.

Don’t go head over heels with lace, or any other trend for that matter. The biggest fashion faux pas is wearing one particular trend from head to toe! Always implement trends in small ways. So, let your glam see through the lace, subtly.
