Addressing a press conference in Mangalore on Tuesday, Poojary charged that the State government is not transparent with regard to flood relief work in North Karnataka.

“Yeddyurappa refused to show the copy of the memorandum, which was submitted to the Prime Minister, to the opposition leader. An opposition leader is always considered as a shadow chief minister in democracy. Hence, Siddaramaiah has the right to see the memorandum,” he added.

“If this is the way a chief minister treats the opposition, how people can expect good governance,” he questioned.

Chief minister should have shown the copy of the memorandum to opposition leader. But instead, he himself gave directions not to show the copy of the memorandum to opposition, he charged.

Poojary blamed that the government failed to assess the actual loss occurred due to flood in North Karnataka so for.

No idea on loss

“Yeddyurappa himself have no idea about actual loss in flood-hit districts,” he ridiculed adding that officials could have assess the loss, if they had worked on warfooting basis.  Further talking about State government’s allegations against Centre of not releasing sufficient fund for relief work in North Karnataka, Poojary said, “let Yeddyurappa tell the people how much money State government spend so far for flood relief, before criticising Centre.”

Poojary donates Rs 75,000

Poojary said that he has donated three month’s pension amounting to Rs 75,000 towards relief work in North Karnataka. Poojary informed that the Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple Committee, to which he is closely associated with, has also donated Rs 1 lakh to the relief fund. Former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty, Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal, Suresh Ballal and M G Hegde were present.
