In a shocking incident, a 15-year old girl committed suicide after some youths, who had prepared an obscene MMS of her, threatened to post it on the internet.

The victim, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance after coming home from her school on Monday. She was rushed to the nearby hospital, where she died late on Tuesday night.

According to police sources, five youths of the same district, had tried to molest her on Monday while she was going to school.

They threatened to post an obscene MMS on the internet when she raised an alarm and protested, sources added.

The girl had told her family members about the incident. She had told them that the youths were harassing and blackmailing her for the past several days on the basis of an MMS which they had prepared during a molestation attempt.

Three arrested

A case has been registered by victim’s father naming the five accused. Three of them have been arrested, police said on Wednesday. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the others.

Etawah is the home town of the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav while Jaswantnagar, where the incident took place, was represented in the assembly by his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Recently, a woman had set herself ablaze in Deoria district after she was allegedly gang raped by four youths. She later succumbed to her injuries after battling for life at a hospital for over a week.

Before that another minor was set on fire by a youth after he failed to rape her in Allahabad. She also died in hospital.

Akhilesh had then assured that his government was serious about tackling crimes against women and would take stern steps.

The UP government has also decided to slap the National Security Act on people accused of raping minors.
