<p>The long wait of theatre enthusiasts for good plays is now over as Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) is back with its eighth edition. <br /></p>.<p>Having become one of <br />the most coveted events for theatre groups and fans across India, META aims to encourage all forms of theatre and increase awareness and appreciation of Indian theatre. <br /><br />With this aim, 10 plays have been shortlisted this year to be staged between March 3-9 at Kamani Auditorium and LTG auditorium. These include a number of regional plays such as The Old Man and The Sea in Malayalam, Miruvidushakam in Tamil and The Priestess in Manipuri.<br /><br />Among these, there will also be multi-lingual plays such as Gasha in Hindi, Kashmiri and Urdu, Matte Eklavya in Kannada, Hindi and English and Savitri – Dancing In The Forest Of Death in Tamil and English.<br /><br />But the highlight will remain plays like Fevicol (Hindi) which has proved its mettle in festivals before and So Many Socks (English), which is directed by Quasar Thakore Padamsee.<br />Ravi Dubey, Creative Director of META says, “We received 312 entries this year and it has been quite a challenge to shortlist the 10 plays that have made the cut this year and are outstanding in their own individual right.”</p>
