This Tollywood take on 2011 popular Hindi flick Tanu Weds Manu starring Madhavan, Kangna Ranaut and Jimmy Shergill, turns out into a vacuous patience teaser. A poor copy of the original, Devi Prasad’s fine-tuning it to suit the regional milieu comes to naught given that it does not lift your surly mood.

Despite Sunil’s honest performance and comic timing, Mr Pellukoduku does not tickle one’s funny bones but simply tires one ad infinitum. This routine rom-com revolves around NRI Buchi Babu who jets down to India seeking a desi damsel to say I do and take the saat pheras.

Needless to say, our beau, sporting a six-pack body, falls head over heels when Anjali is paraded before him as per tradition. However, our beauty already has a boyfriend, so being a goody-goody, sporty gentleman, Buchi Babu sidesteps so that the love-birds’ romance can flower to fruition.

However, this being reel, and not real life, Mr Pellikoduku gives a googly twist to the tacky tale with Anjali and Buchi going gooey over each other sooner than one can imagine. How, where, when, why, is what Mr Pellikoduku seeks to engage and entertain you with. Well, Devi Prasad’s match-making doesn’t turn the charm on audiences and it is just yawn and yowl time for them.
