Madani to mobilise Muslim youth in City

Last Updated 02 March 2013, 20:09 IST

Maulana Mahmood Madani, former parliamentarian and general secretary of Jamiat Ulam-i-Hind demanded a strong action against the police officials who rush to arrest Muslim youths in terror cases but even fail to file chargesheet against them.

The Jamiat Ulam-i-Hind leaders are mobilising Muslims for a peaceful protest and symbolic arrests on these issues on Tuesday at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.
Not demanding compensation for such stigmatised youths, Madani demanded that the police officers who make such arrests should be held accountable and be made to pay for the sin.

“Life of a youngster is stigmatised for ever as he and his family are alienated by the community. Obviously, no true Muslim will support a man involved in anti-national activities. But, what if is arrested just on the hunch of some officer and later released. While nothing happens to the officer, he may even be given a promotion, the innocent youth is made to suffer without any fault,” said Madani, demanding a strong law for the same.

Addressing a press conference in the city, Madani alleged that police in the country has always discriminated against the minorities and most of the communal violence acts are created by police.

“Since Independence, more than 50,000 cases of communal violence have been reported in the country. However, if an independent investigation is carried out, one would discover that 90 per cent of these violent acts were inflicted by the police violence on innocent Muslims.
