A Bescom lineman was electrocuted and another injured while repairing a “dangerous” transformer at Dwarakanagar 7th Main in Banashankari on Tuesday, police said.

Rajanna, 45, and his colleague, Rangaswamy, 40, were repairing the transformer as ordered by the Bescom assistant engineer, Nagendra. Residents, however, warned them of the danger, saying smoke was billowing from the transformer
.
But Nagendra did not heed and asked Rangaswamy to set right a loop in the transformer. The latter complied but suffered an electric shock and fell to the ground.

Rajanna then began repairing the transformer on Nagendra’s orders but was electrocuted. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead, police said.
