Bangalorean ranked 26th in GATE exam

The results for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) were declared on Friday. Sushil Tushar, a Bangalorean, secured an All India Rank of 26 in Mechanical Engineering.

This exam was taken by 9.84 lakh students this year — a marked increase from the 6.86 lakh last year.

Computer Engineering saw a pass percentage of 7.78 per cent while Electronics and Communications Engineering boasted on a 14.21 pass per cent.

Around 16.63 passed in Electrical Engineering and 14.82 per cent in Mechanical Engineering. In instrumentation engineering, it was 11.95 per cent, civil engineering  17.67 per cent, chemical engineering 19.46 per cent and for bio-technology, it was 21.19 per cent.

As many as 14 top Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as BHEL, NTPC, IOCL, HPCL and BPCL will be recruiting the engineers.

Many others will pursue their higher studies in prestigious institutes such as IISc and IIT’s and other institutes which accept GATE scores.
