The bullets hit his chest and left shoulder. He was admitted to a private hospital in Hubli late in the night. The legislator is said to be out of danger. His gunman and three others were also injured. <br /><br />According to one version, a revolver of his gunman went off accidentally. Another report said a rival group led by a BJP ticket aspirant fired at the MLA. Patil, who was minister for women and child welfare in the D V Sadananda Gowda Cabinet, stepped down following allegations that he was watching porn clips on a mobile phone in the Assembly.</p>
