Acting tough on the property tax defaulters, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday attached the bank account of Aman Hotel — a five star hotel in Lodhi Colony.
The civic body officials said the hotel owners owe the corporation an amount of Rs 1.5 crore as property tax.

“The property tax department attached the bank account of Lodhi Property Company Limited, popularly known as Aman Hotel. The company has to pay Rs 1,52,02,531 crore pending as property tax. The department had sent notices to them but dues were not cleared,” a senior corporation official said.

The action was taken under section 114 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act. The corporation has been taking stern action against the property tax defaulters to augment revenue.

B N Singh, assessor and collector, SDMC, said earlier the corporation has attached the bank account of agencies like DDA, companies like Haldiram Marketing Pvt Ltd and Ansal Properties and Infrastructure Ltd and owners of TDI Mall.
