Polls may force rescheduling of two RCB ties

Last Updated 21 March 2013, 19:41 IST

Two of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s home matches to be held in the first week of May will have to be rescheduled due to the State assembly elections on May 5.

The Bangalore side is to meet Kings XI Punjab on May 4 and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 6 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here but with the polls to be held between these two matches, the Indian Premier League authorities will have to tweak the schedule due to security concerns.

RCB sources said they have been in consultation with both the IPL and the local security authorities to arrive at convenient dates to host the two matches in question. “We are in touch with the concerned people and hope that the issue is resolved at the earliest,” an RCB official said.

IPL Chief Executive Officer Sundar Raman said they were in touch with the local police officials. “In case the security officials convey that it would be difficult for them to provide security, we may have to make a minor change to the schedule,” Raman said.

Police sources confirmed the talks between the two parties with regard to security arrangements for the entire duration of IPL here. “Obviously the matches will have to be rescheduled because the elections are too close to the match days.”
