The Congress on Wednesday filed a complaint of violation of the model code of conduct with the deputy commissioner, also the district electoral officer, against former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

Gowda took part in the shooting at the KRS reservoir on Tuesday for director Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar’s documentary on the former prime minister’s struggle to protect the State’s interests in the Cauvery dispute.

Meetings banned

KPCC member and district Congress spokesperson T S Satyananda said in the complaint that holding meetings and film shooting are banned in the dam area for security reasons.
Yet, the former prime minister took part in the shooting, especially at a time when the elections have been announced, thus violating the poll code.

Satyananda said that the documentary was being prepared, so that Gowda’s party can earn brownie points with voters.

Hence, its telecast should be banned till the elections are over, he said.
He said that Gowda also held a press conference in the guest house of the reservoir, again a violation of the code of conduct.
