District Congress unit spokesperson B S Thammaiah has accused MLA K G Bopaiah of violating model code of conduct by holding election campaign in a temple at Virajpet. If the district administration fails to initiate action against him, then the Congress will hold protest.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, he said that the Congress has already filed a complaint to the DC and State Election Commission in this regard.
The BJP meeting was held at Hermadu Eshwara temple on April 3. Bopaiah had taken part in the meeting.

“The BJP had taken permission for holding the meeting at VSSN hall in Kutta. However, in reality the meeting was held at a temple in Hermadu. Deputy Commissioner should initiate stringent action against those who were responsible for holding meeting without obtaining permission.”

Bopaiah has been violating the rules since beginning. He had come in for sharp criticism by the Supreme Court for favouring a few while disqualifying MLA.

“He was involved in getting cheap publicity from various organisations in the form of advertisements for releasing funds to temples and development work. Bopaiah did not release funds from his pocket for taking up development work in temples,” he said.

Thammaiah said that he will complain to the Secretary of Kannada and Culture department against Kodava Sahitya Academy president Addanda C Cariappa for taking part in BJP programmes.

He accused Addanda Cariappa for acting as the BJP spokesperson. Bopaiah has been wooing the Kodavas in Virajpet.

“If Addanda has any political interest, then he should tender resignation to the post of Academy president and contest elections,” he said.

The people of the state are craving for a change. The BJP is mired in corruption. The people of the district will also help in the victory of the Congress candidates. “It was true that the list of aspirants is big. However, we will abide by the decision of the High Command,” he said.
