BJP workers will approach the four lakh people who were registered under the Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojna of the Delhi government in 2007, but are yet to get the houses they were promised.

The decision in this regard was taken at a party meeting which was attended by all the 14 district president’s of state Bharatiya Janata Party unit.

According to state BJP president Vijay Goel, party workers will be mobilised to hold a massive demonstration at the residence of chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday morning.
Unkept promises

Goel said Congress was a party of leaders who are experts in constructing castles in the air and Dikshit had blatantly violated the promises she had made to the people years ago.

“Dikshit had promised four lakh houses for the city slum dwellers, just prior to the Assembly elections. For this, these poor people had to shell out Rs 100 from their pocket to fill the form,” he said.

“But by the time of the audit, only 10,000 houses were built, of which only 85 were allotted. You can see the difference between the prophecy and practice of this government,” he added.

Goel said the chief minister has betrayed the poor people at the time when they are already suffering due to price rise.

He reminded that the Delhi Lokayukta had recommended the President to take action against Dikshit for misrepresenting facts during the 2008 Assembly polls.
The chief minister had said that 60,000 flats were ready to be handed over while she allegedly knew that they were not, he said.

Hollow commitments

“CAG has exposed the hollow commitments and corrupt practices of Dikshit in the same line as the Lokayukta had done before,” party president said.

“We demand that appropriate legal action be taken against the ministers and officers of the Delhi government responsible for this criminal negligence,” he added.
