Spending time in the store and interacting with customers, actor Neil Nitin Mukesh and award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar chatted informally about their soon-to-be released film Jail. “It is a no-holds-barred yet sensitive tale of an ordinary man named Parag, who inadvertently finds himself in prison. The story is told from Parag’s point of view as well as that of other inmates, who include undertrials, convicts, and even the police. Our huge jail, set at Karjat, was so real down to every last detail that one will get a realistic look into what goes on behind the walls of a prison,” said Bhandarkar.  “We shot the film in record time. Although being a sensitive subject, it was thoroughly researched, from costumes and mannerisms to behaviour patterns,” he added.

“Madhur is a perfectionist director who doesn’t believe in taking short-cuts. He made sure that we got under the skin of the characters even if it meant going to great lengths, both physically and mentally, for the entire cast and crew. But I’m confident that all this has paid off in the final cut of the movie,” said Neil handing out CDs and signing autographs for the assembled crowd.

“It’s been a real thrill to meet both Bhandarkar as well as Neil Mukesh. I am a big fan of Fashion and Page 3, which I thought were great entertainers without the exaggerated storylines,” said Meghana, one of the fans who walked away with an autographed CD of the film. After a good 45 minutes of interaction with the fans, the duo along with their entourage, sped away to the next hot spot on their itinerary.
