A deputy superintendent of police in the crime branch CID in the Uttar Pradesh police was suspended after it came to light that he had three wives.

Kalyan Singh, who found it extremely difficult to sustain his marital relations for a long time, had managed to dodge the law and evade any action despite marrying twice.
It was third marriage that landed him in trouble and proved to be his nemesis, sources said.

According to police sources, he had already a wife, when he tied the nuptial knot with Sandhya Singh a few years ago.

After living together for a brief period differences cropped up between the two and Sandhya started living separately.

She filed a petition in the court seeking alimony from him following which a court later directed him to pay it to her.

An undeterred Singh, even during the pendency of the earlier case, got close to another woman. He reportedly told her that he was unmarried. After a brief affair, the two got married. The DSP got his third marriage registered and gave an affidavit stating that he was a bachelor.

As expected their relationship did not last long and they got separated. But this time, the third wife decided to take the matter to the court.

The investigation revealed that Singh had two wives when he had married her.

A complain was lodged with the officials and an investigation launched against him. The allegations were found to be correct during the probe. On Monday, the officer was suspended and departmental proceedings were initiated against him.
