Sharath Kamal (69) got off to a flying start as he grabbed the first game 11-9 against the fifth seed.
The 30-year-old Indian continued to fight hard against his team-mate at Borussia Düsseldorf, a German table tennis club, but lost the second game 10-12.
Sharath Kamal found the former world number too hot to handle in the subsequent games and was floored 1-11 5-11 2-11 in the round of 64 match played last night.
Earlier, India's mixed doubles pair of Soumyajit Ghosh and Mouma Das went down 2-4 to Peng Tang and Wing Nam NG from Hong Kong.
In their round of 32 match, the Indian duo tried hard to match their formidable opponents but lost the contest 8-11 11-7 8-11 14-12 9-11 7-11.
