The Town Panchayat has purchased two tractors for disposing solid waste. A pushing trally has been given to Raghavendra layout to collect garbage with private partnership. A total of 76 garbage bins have been placed in the town limits, he said.
The TP has organised a number of programmes in the past two years to create awareness among the students regarding environment and hygiene, he said. Nominated member to the Town Panchayat J J Nagaraj inaugurated the programme. TP member K Rajendra, Ratnamma, nominated members Jayaram, Subrahmanya among others were present. Drawing, essay and debate competitions were conducted for primary, high school and college students respectively.
