The event heralds the beginning of a six-week build up to the marathon, which would be held under the theme “Run for Green”. The organisers, Rotary Club of Bangalore IT Corridor aims at planting one lakh trees in the ity.
Speaking on the occasion, R K Mishra, Charter President of the Club rued that despite planting of 25,000 trees, the City’s loss of greenery was not compensated as 50,000 trees had been felled in the recent past.
While airing his concerns about the depleting greenery in the City, Javagal Srinath, former India cricketer, was also optimistic that the city would regain its old title of being the ‘Pensioners’ Paradise’.
Fashion show
The fashion show featured creations from Anitha Kholay and choreographed by Rahul Dev Shetty. The creations showcased three themes ‘Recycle’, ‘Revive’ and ‘Run’.
Sportspersons Nisha Millet, Robin Uthappa, Vani Ganapathi, Prasad Bidappa, Kiran Srinivas and Pankaj Advani took part and lauded the initiative.
