“Till my last blood is there in my life, I will not allow armed revolution or terrorism and violence to overtake us in India,” he told a public meeting here on Saturday night.
Chidambaram said the Congress and BJP governments at the Centre had “underestimated” the Naxalites for the last 10 to 13 years.
“Now, they are trying to create problems in the country with arms in their hands. They are not going to succeed in this,” he said.
Naxalites not enemies
At the same time, he said the Centre is ready to have dialogues with them provided they abjure violence. “Naxalites are our own countrymen and not enemies like Pakistani terrorists,” Home Minister Chidambaram said.
Chidambaram also warned Pakistan “not to play with India” by covertly sponsoring terrorists.
“The Mumbai attacks should be Pakistan’s last game. I have warned the country not to play with India,” he told the gathering.
Talking tough, Chidambaram said terrorists and militants attacking India will not only be defeated but also retaliation.
Home Minister Chidambaram’s comments came three days after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan but asked Islamabad to stop backing terrorists acting against India.
