Five rapes reported in outer Delhi in past 24 hours

Three victims are minors, aged 10 to 15

Five incidents of rape, including cases involving three minors, were reported from outer Delhi in the last 24 hours, police said on Saturday.

In the first incident, a 10-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour at Samaypur Badli on Saturday. The accused has been arrested and identified as Malkhan Singh.

“Malkhan, a labourer, was arrested from his house,” a police officer said.

In the second incident, a 15-year-old girl alleged that she was raped by a neighbour at Mangolpuri.

The girl told police that 24-year-old Ravi was friendly with her and asked her to accompany him on Friday. She was later taken to an isolated spot where Ravi raped her.

Ravi later threatened the victim with dire consequences, but the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents. Ravi was later arrested by police and was also beaten up by locals.

In another incident, a 24-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by her father-in-law at Mangolpuri. The accused is yet to be arrested. The woman alleges that her father-in-law raped her when they were alone at home two days ago.

In the fourth incident, a 21-year-old woman in Mangolpuri alleged she that was raped on the pretext of marriage.

Dharamander Kumar befriended the Hari Enclave resident on social networking website Facebook.

“The woman claims they met few times after which Dharamander developed physical relation promising marriage,” another police officer said. 

The woman informed her family when Dharamander refused to marry her. Her family approached police, but Dharamander is yet to be arrested.

In the fifth incident, a 13-year-old girl was kidnapped from Aman Vihar and raped for two days by a local. She went missing on May 28 and was dropped near her house on May 30.

‘Evidence recovered in gang rape case’

The woman police officer on Saturday told a special court here that she had arrested five out of six accused in the December 16 gang rape case and at their instance important evidence were recovered, PTI reports from New Delhi.

The sub inspector, posted at Vasant Vihar police station here, deposed for the second day before additional sessions judge Yogesh Khanna that robbed articles of the 23-year-old victim were also recovered from all the six accused, including the juvenile.

“On disclosure statement of the accused persons (five adult, including Ram Singh who died on March 11), they took out their clothes which they were wearing at the time of the commission of the crime on December 16, 2012 night,” she said.

“The clothes recovered were also containing some blood stains,” the investigating officer (IO), who was the last and the crucial prosecution witness in the case told the court.

She said the accused persons also took out the robbed articles, including clothes and other valuables of the victim and her male friend, which they had hidden soon after the incident.

Ram Singh, who was found hanging in his cell in Tihar jail, was the first to be arrested in the case. Later, accused Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh were apprehended.

On December 21, 2012, the juvenile was apprehended at Anand Vihar bus terminal in east Delhi. The last arrest in the case was Akshay Thakur who was apprehended at Aurangabad in Bihar.

The IO also said the accused were correctly recognised by the victim’s male friend, also the complainant in the case. She also said the youth identified the bus in which the gang rape had taken place.
