HC notice to Rani Chennamma varsity on appointments

The High Court, on Wednesday, issued notices to Registrar (Evaluation) of Rani Chennamma University, Belgaum, with regard to a PIL challenging the appointment of Registrar (Administration) and Registrar (Evaluation).

A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela passed the order on PIL filed by Raghvendra Joshi alleging that the appointment of Dr Vishnukanth Chatpalli as Registrar (Administration) and Prof Janardhan Registrar (Evaluation) of Rani Chennamma University, Belgaum, was illegal. The counsel representing Joshi said Chatpalli was appointed Registrar (Administration) just 42 days after his appointment as professor of Business Administration. A similar violation has been committed in Janardhan's case also, he alleged. The petitioner sought directions to cancel their appointments and suitable candidates posted in their place. The Bench adjourned the case till July 8.
