A pregnant woman was grievously injured after a speeding Hoysala patrol vehicle rammed her in Kalidasa Layout, Srinagar on Sunday night.
According to police, the victim Chaya Devi, 29, was getting on to her husband’s bike when the patrol vehicle knocked her down.
The couple were about to return home after attending a birthday party at their relative’s house. Police rushed her to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences.
According to Srinivasa K, the couple’s relative, the vehicle was being driven by A Asheervad and he had no valid driving licence. He also alleged that another person in the vehicle was inebriated.
Police sources said that the patrol vehicle was rushing to Girinagar, where an attempted murder had taken place, around the same time.
