<p>Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya has said that there is a proposal to set up an exclusive wing to manage residential schools and hostels run by the social welfare department. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Saturday, the minister said there are 338 residential schools and 1,966 hostels under the purview of the department. A separate wing for managing the same would help in better maintenance. <br /><br />There is a provision to accommodate 2.30 lakh students in the hostels. But there are only 1.93 lakh students now.<br /><br /> A helpline would be established to receive grievances and complaints faced by the hostelites, the minister said.<br /></p>
