Rivers in spate

The inflow of water into major reservoirs has increased following copious rainfall in various parts of the district since Monday.

According to sources, Tunga, Malathi and Kushavathi rivers in Teerthahalli taluk are in spate following incessant rainfall in the region. Agumbe received rainfall of 66.4 mm and 123.0 mm on Sunday and Monday respectively.

Teerthahalli received 14.2 mm and 117 mm rainfall on June 23 and 24 respectively. Sagar received 24 mm, Sorab-21.2 mm, Hosanagar-12.6 mm, Shikaripur-6.6 mm, Bhadravathi- 4 mm and Shimoga-3.6 mm.

Water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1, 760.80 feet and the inflow was 8.326 cusecs on Monday. Similarly, water level rose to 125.30 feet in Bhadra dam and the inflow was 4, 004 cusecs.
